Oikein hyvää itsenäisyyspäivää kaikille! (I just wished a great independent day for every finnish which we are now celebrating). We should be proud of our land and grateful to all who did fight for us in the second world war, (like both of my grandpa’s did.) I will always remember that. Also I will always feel that pain of getting lost to Russia and missing our eastern parts (like my grandpa’s hometown Vyborg, which was the heart of Finland and which we did once capture back but then lost it again).
Even though some might question our independent because of EU, (which have taken some decision makeing power from us), I don’t think it doesn’t mean we have no reason to celebrate our independent. We have our land, we have our own president, culture and language…that’s great! EU can’t take everything that away!
These clips below are scenes of the legendary independent day movie: ”Tuntematon sotilas” (Unknown soldier). Even if you don’t understand finnish, I still wish you watch these clips. There is things, you will understand. The war speak itselves…
Other legendary thing on the independent day is ”Linnan juhlat”, the same as presidents independent day admittance. There president have invited some well known people, like showbusiness people, sportsmen and -women, politicians and war veterans. They will eat and dance and they give interviews to the media. Women always estimate those gests dresses. This year I have saw many beautiful dresses (I’m watching this party same time as I write this post.)
There you can see the beautiful losted Vyborg, where is always one piece of me.
Anyway, once again: Oikein hyvää itsenäisyyspäivää kaikille!
